Course Description

This course is an introduction to the basics of biblical Greek. Emphasis is placed on basic noun and verb forms, grammatical structure, and vocabulary of the Greek language in order to translate the New Testament.

More specifically, the focus of this course is on equipping students devotionally and academically for lifelong learning in the biblical languages in general, and in particular biblical Greek. While training 2 students in the basics of biblical Greek grammar and syntax, and introducing them to the vocabulary of the NT, this course anticipates the needs of the lifelong learner and orients students to a variety of tools and resources necessary to effectively utilize Biblical Greek in their ministry and in everyday life.

This is a 3-credit-hour course, so it is the equivalent of 3 one-hour lectures per week plus at least another 6 hours of individual study and class assignments per week outside class. As a general guide, students should schedule about an hour-or-so a day, Monday through Saturday, reserving Sunday for a brief review of the past week's work. Students who invest an hour-or-so each day on this course should have no difficulty keeping up and passing. Students who make a habit of procrastinating will probably not do very well.
